I Don't Understand

Lots of people still shop on eBay even if you don't. So that maybe explains why it is discussed.

As to why the drum is priced so highly, that could be answered by the seller. A simple message might help. Who knows, maybe the seller could sell it for less to you. When I sell such items on eBay I always put a "Best Offer" option on there. Anyway, I can't do much for you in terms of that seller, other than to suggest to you that you contact him/her and attempt to find out directly instead of trying to start a moaning party.

Johnny: theres been a guy on Orange County CL trying to sell a BB tom for months for like $100.00...Maybe you shoul try him. If you dont see it keep checking because its there for weeks then disapears for a month and then back again...

You could post a wanted ad in the Orange County CL to try and find that drum. I sold a set of 70's W/F Pearls while investigating market value because a guy posted an ad looking for a set identical to mine. (sorry billnvick. They were in great shape w/cases). It could be worth a shot. They'd find your ad while simply searching for theirs.

Lots of people still shop on eBay even if you don't. So that maybe explains why it is discussed.

Actually, what I said was ...

"I don't understand why ebay is still discussed if ebay is disliked to the degree that it is."

It seems to me that if ebay is so disliked ... there honestly cannot be an argument for that (except maybe MikeC) ... why bring up yet another bad seller or overpriced item or crooked move or inflated shipping or deadbeat buyer or missing items or bad credit or seller scam or misrepresented item or or or or or or or or or etc. ad nauseam ...

Does it help anyone?

Is there anything positive that can come from yet another one of these?

That's really all I was saying.

It's true when people find a steal on eBay, usually they slink back into the grass and never mention it! So there's probably lots of people who get a great deal just don't mention it here.

About that oyster tom.. Am I the only one who is happy to play an original wrapped Ludwig drum regardless of color?

The bowling ball blue oyster color is actually a fairly common color. I think the seller is fishing for that buyer who has enough cash on hand and is willing to avoid the search and just shell out the big bucks and get over it. Still, there's lots of price fluctuation on eBay and this pushing the top-end of the envelope on prices is definitely not what I'm about.

Maybe the seller just doesn't want to sell badly enough:

a month or so back but much better price. One thing about eBay, if you take your time and keep looking, generally something will come up in your price range.

tnsquint - Oh Man! I'm always looking for a good deal on those!!

As for the good deals and Pounder's "usually they slink back into the grass and never mention it" -- I'm guilty! I've scored twice on Pearl W/FG kits on eBay... both times nearly complete kits, and both times under $100 including shipping! One was a rewrap, one was just a detail job, but I sold both sets on eBay and made good money on both!

I prefer to sell OFF of eBay, but I also try & keep my part-time venture in to the business world running on "cash-flow" only, so some times I have no choice but putting stuff up on eBay. Always buyers there...

I have had very good results with ebay. Just try to ignore the over priced drums I guess.

I think with eBay is that you're paying for the convenice factor as well. Think of all the time and effort you'd put in to find a drum in a yard sale, or estate sale, or where but with eBay it right there in front of you. I do believe there is something going on with people selling drums on eBay for way too much money. I also believe the hipster who are all into vintage drums right now are driving the prices up.

I do that, too. And I also ignore the ones that have outrageous shipping/handling charges as well.

I've also had my share of "buyers" who have messaged me telling me my asking price was too high. But, I've had that happen on here, too. Even to the point of trying to "shame" me or basically tell me I don't have a clue what I doing... I guess in an attempt to try and get me to sell to them at their desired "low-ball" price. Well, they don't get very far, either here or on eBay...

Those guys who want the low ball price are the same ones with the 800.00 floor tom for sale! Good deals are to be had, you just have to wait, dont be in a hurry. At least ebay you have the ebay team to help you out with issues. Buying things from individuals is risky in its self. I sold a couple things on ebay ( wish I still had them) and found its not for me as a seller, I am much better at buying things.
