Huge drum collectors sale/hello!

Loading...

Hello everybody. First off, I just joined this forum. I am fairly new to vintage drums and hope to soak up all of the information I can on this site. Everybody seems to be friendly and helpful so I'm sure i can learn a lot here.

Secondly, there is a MASSIVE collection of drums owned by a gentleman in St. Louis, MO who has decided to sell them all off. I'm not kidding, if you want any vintage kit/snare, he's got it. From Duplex to Camco (I even spotted a Trixon kit in his basement) and from Slingerland to Ludwig. He has hundreds of snares and about 50 complete drum sets. I am going tomorrow to purchase a few snares and he was very willing to talk to me in depth about his history of drums and his knowledge of drums (astounding, by the way). If anybody would like me to try and find something and snap a picture of it, let me know! He isn't pricing anything and is taking your offer first (believe me, I tried to get him to give me a price on a few drums the other night but he wanted to hear my offers first).

Glad I'm a part of this forum and look forward to learning a lot from you guys. I'll post the drums I'm buying tomorrow pretty soon.

When in doubt, lay out.

Post photos of what he has for sale....Mikey

I just thought I could help out if anybody had something in-particular that they were looking for and I could snap some pictures of it if I find it while I'm over there today buying the drums I want. The drums are not cataloged and this is more of a hoarding situation than anything, just in this case it's classic drums but even in his advanced age, he seems to know exactly what he has down there. So to snap pictures of everything he has would take forever but I'd be more than happy to take some pictures of just the collection as a whole if that's what your asking. This isn't laid out like a drum shop, it's tough to get around his house cause of all the drums.

When in doubt, lay out.

Congrats on the find! For me personally, I typically skip right past advertisements where the seller won't name a price. That way of doing business invites lowball offers and then he gets offended by the lowball offer then it typically degrades from there.

Anyways, good luck with finding some gems!

have a wonderful evening

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I'm looking for a blue sparkle Ludwig Jazz fest or Pioneer with a keystone badge. And always interested in Camcos!!

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

I completely agree. I'm hoping that since I'm purchasing about 5 snares he will work with me a bit and not be offended by my offer. We'll see. Tomorrow I'll post whatever I end up bringing home.

When in doubt, lay out.
