How do you display your drums?

Loading...

I am in the process of building out a new analog studio in Indianapolis IN that is owned by a really good friend of mine. I will be housing my drums at the studio and am wanting to build some sort of racking that looks great and displays everything nicely. I have roughly 4 drum sets, 3-4 extra bass drums 18" up to 26" and somewhere around 15-20 snare drums.

I'm thinking about a rolling cart for the snares to easily get them in a tracking room and back out.

How do you display your drums? Or do you have any ideas I should entertain?

I am debating the same thing myself. I have a room full of drums at my house. I am thinking about moving to The JamHole. The jamhole is a place we play music. About a year ago I downsized the Jamhole and started just acoustic music on thursday nights. I had a wall built and have a wood shop on the other side of the wall for my business. Last week I rented suite C, next to the JamHole. We will be having plugged in music again. I am thinking about moving all my drums to the new JamHole and making the old JamHole my drum shop. I used to have all my kits set up in the bedroom until I ran out of room. Now I have them all stacked.

I like the idea of a rolling display.

First, Wow, poppy! Nice collection.

I second the rolling display/cart idea. Something like poppy's cymbal shelf, so you can store the snares on their sides. Make sure to wrap the horizontal tubes with some type of foam or carpet. This will protect the lugs, hoops and strainers. If the cart doesn't have wheels, you can retrofit some casters on the bottom. If so, make sure the casters are big enough for the load and make them all swivel style. This will make sure the cart doesn't drag because of the weight and surface.

Please share, if you purchase or have something made.

Pipe insulation for cushion on the bars would be good.

:) As long as there's news like this, the (music) world isn't lost yet!

Great plans, nice collection.

In my Hometown there's a guy with seriously over 30 (!) Ludwig Kits and many many snares. Kits are stored in Boxes in a constant temperatured, dark Room to "prevent from fading". That's interesting and sad at the same time.

I just have 4 Kits (one always set up) and 7 Snares which I'd like to build a shelf for soon. To grab and PLAY them! Party

I set some up, single drums get on the rack, and stack drums I'm about to ship out or take to rehearsal.

HI my friends! Nice thread.....

Nothing to compare about my humble "collection" with all you guys, but I would like to share my "rack rolling display" with an air conditioner pipe insulation as protection (bottom bar), as you mentioned above.

Congrats to all you guys for such a bunch of drums that you have!Walking

Q: When do you stack the drums, do you use some kind of board or something between them?
