How Collectible are Camco Drums?

Loading...

From DolFan54

Anyone that places Rogers at number one would more than likely prefer LA Camco to the other eras. Gretsch at number one usually prefers Oaklawn. It comes down to the differences in Jasper and Keller made shells in my experience.

Funny you should say that, and I'm sure you're correct. In smaller drums, 20, 12, 14, I prefer Gretsch, then Ludwig. Larger drums, my preference is Camco... with a caveat.

I've never played a small Camco kit. The only Camco's I've ever 'driven' are my large 24, 13, 14, 16, 18 LA kit.

And if one places Slingerland 3 ply mahogany/poplar/mahogany at number one?

YES!

I did play a late 50's or early 60's G. Way kit once. It wasn't mine... I sat in for an ailing drummer acquaintance for an evening gig, and used his kit.

WOW! WOW! WOW! That was one sweet sounding kit. I think it was a 20, 12, 14 or maybe a 16... it has been a while. I just remember looking at the badge and wondering who the heck this 'Way' guy was.

The unfortunate thing was that nobody knew anything about the kit by then (early 70's).

SO 60s rogers, gretsch and camco were the greatest drums ever made? Thats what I've heard and it makes sense. The new gretsch 'renown 57' in blue is the raddest looking new kit I've seen.
