Hexagonal Drum Key Puzzle Last viewed: 8 hours ago

Loading...

I recently acquired a very well-made, hexagonal shaped drum key (as part of a parts lot from ebay). It is in mint condition; no rust or other signs of distress; it looks brand new! The overall design is "old school" and it strikes me as being nickel plated; the opening is slightly larger than a modern tension rod key would be. I don't know for sure which manufacturer might have produced this, though. There is no branding on it. Maybe Geisler/Beltone/Slingerland? 1920's? Common? Rare? Value range?

Your thoughts as to what this is? (photo attached)

Banjo tuning key, perhaps?

interesting... could well be... I know rather little about banjos!

I did see mention of Geisler snare & banjo parts: http://www.notsomoderndrummer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=507

O-Lugs.... Well, I think it is looking more & more to be a banjo key! As in 99.9% probability, probably.

Here's a link to a very, very similar looking key I just located:

You might try to shoot a message to Arno, VDF member. He has a vast collection of tuning keys. Might know something.
