Hi all- I have this kit with all original hardware and am wondering what model/serial number it is, and also the estimated value. Can you please help?

The only number I can find is 2466 inside the drum...

What you have there is a 1960's Yamaha Y-badge C-200 kit in the Golden Dragon wrap, which is the most desirable of the wraps that came on this kit.

There is a lot of argument about the values of these kits. Some say they are cheap Japanese copies of the American drums of the time (even going so far as to call them firewood), and some see them as well made kits that sound great.

What sizes do you have? Do you have the matching snare?

Thank you GoJaskill!

I personally love this kit and it's sound.I got curious about the exact year and value since so many people seem interested in it.

I have the 12" rack tom, 14" floor tom, 20" kick, and matching snare, also all original hardware including the yamaha kick skin.

Have you ever seen a website that can track the year of those old yamaha serial numbers?

Thanks again for your reply!!

Very cool kit! Cool too see a Yamaha from that era with the same exact tone control as the Rogers 360/380 made by Yamaha at the time. wonder if that means it is a birch shell as well.

what GoJaskill said. Not possible to give an exact date (serial numbers mean nothing apparently) but these were some of the earliest Yamaha drums. 1967-70 is where they will fall. Shells are Birch/luan and most seem to be really well made. It has been noted here before that some have reinforcing rings inside the shells and some don't. I suspect, without any solid evidence, it'll be the smaller shells like yours that have the re-rings - mine doesn't and is 20/13/16. Some snares are 6 lug, some are 8. Definitely not firewood as some have said (some believe all Japanese made drums are only fit for firewood) and certainly the best MIJ made drums from the era.

Cool kit and a great wrap.
