Help with Gretsch SSB kit! Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I'd be tempted. The bass hoops aren't original. Oh well. They're probably better then the chrome originals. Pull that funky inlay off, and do something nicer there. Bottom tom hoop, well, just watch around for one. No big deal. But, I do prefer Gretsch to DW's, usually. The sound works better for me......

I think anyone would prefer gretsch to dw- only thing that beats gretsch is rogers (64-70) and camco (same).

DW's are great drums. Don't under rate them. Judge by sound, rather then hype.I've owned a set of Collectors i liked alot. Very sensitive, dynamic playing set.I'd luv to have a set of Vintage Classics. Heads that fit? what a concept. But, they'd cost me 3 to 4 times what my Gretsch cost me. Oh, and I just sold my early Dayton Rogers. The Gretsch just out shot them, and the head thing can be handled....

I've never seen a Gretsch badge set to 11 o'clock; makes me nervous. Do th drums have intact, unmolested, interior labels (I didn't read all replies)? BD T's and claws are right, but those hoops are from something else (obviously). So, two Gretsch pieces and the other stuff are worth....?

I'm a particular fan of this finish and the era. Interesting to see what you decide.
