Help with eBay please Last viewed: 1 second ago

I am in Canada and I do have a shipping address in the USA for ebay items that originate in the USA that I may want to have shipped there for my convenience. That works fine most of the time. However, sometimes I can't even contact the seller to ask to let me bid. I can understand if a seller does not want to ship out of the country - fair enough. But, why exclude me from bidding just because I'm Canadian? My USA address is connected to my Paypal account. All I do is select the USA address when I pay = no problem.

This is so frustrating - especially when you see something you've been waiting for and you can't go for it - Grrrrr!

I've had a fellow Forum member buy at least 3 items for me over the past couple of years just to get around this silly little rule. I don't want to ask him to do another boarder run for me.......it might alert the eBay police haha.

Gary - You're being too much of a 'nice-guy' about it. Just bid. Let the seller go out of his way to cancel your bid. When it comes time to pay/ship, if the bid goes unchallenged, use your US address. If the seller cancels your bid, it opens the door to communication as he -must notify you-. In your response, you get to state your case... while you have his attention. Make the system work -for- you.

Thanks John - ya I'd do that if I could but my bidding and contact tries are blocked. When I go to hit the 'confirm bid' button I get the dreaded message 'seller does not allow International bidders."

I've got an email sent to my trusty contact on the Forum who lives in the good ole USA to ask if he can email the seller and ask to let me bid. We will see what happens.

I think eBay is losing business by not setting up something that will allow for blocking International bidders but at the same time allowing them to contact a seller. I mean...I can't be the only one outside of the USA but at the same time has an alternate (connected to a Paypal account) ship to address in the USA.....ya think?

You guys are all great - thanks.........I may need the favour some day and it is good to know you're willing to help = appreciated.

I just got an email from my friend in California and he sent an email to the seller. He also offered to 'pull the trigger' for me. I will wait to hear from the seller to see if he will 'allow' my email questions to get through 'Homeland Security" haha.

You don't want to move here, you have better health care, and lower taxes.

Speaking of ebay.........may I add a question>? I vowed not to ship international ever again since I had an issue in Germany, yesterday, I had a RK listed, had a guy in Russia that really wanted my drum, so I let him bid, and he won. I worry about trackability in a foreign country, and what if for some reason they can;t deliver to the address provided? these are what worries a seller, I'm going to the USPS facility today, $500 sale and $156 ship is a huge risk for a seller.
