Help me finding my Ludwig birth year

Loading...

Hello everybody, I'm a new member not only on this forum, but in the vintage drums world.

I've recently bought a Ludwig WFL for a bargain, the owner told me he only knew it was from the 60's, but since I got it I'm very curious about the real "birth year" of it.

Well, I find this website and this lovely forum, and I believe you could help me.

So, I saw on the "Drum Badges" section that my badge is the "1955-1959 WFL Keystone Badge (no serial number)" indeed, it has no serial, and it has the same configuration of the picture, WFL on the top and LUDWIG DRUM CO. CHICAGO U.S.A. on the bottom. I'm not sure if it is possible to know the exact year, or if "1955-1959" is the most I can find.

I wonder the nome of the model, if it's possible for some of you identify it.

It has natural color, I believe it is of maple and poplar, as far as I know, and I've got some cell phone not really good pictures for identifying it.

Hope somebody can help me, many thanks in advance!

Luana.

looks like a 6 lug Pioneer with a maogany interior, not sure about the finish if it was redone or not. Looks like a maple finish which I think may have been a duco.

Some of the late 1950's had date stamps inside the shell, usually opposite the badge.

About being a pioneer, I've been looking at the catalogs, and if it is really a pioneer, with this badge, I could suppose it is from 1959?

And I'll check inside of it, thank you mate.
