Help identify this bass drum please Last viewed: 9 minutes ago

The bass drum looks to be a 6-ply shell dating it to the 1960's. If the Luddy toms are 6-ply as well, then those drums match up quite nicely shell-wise. That bass drum and the Luddy toms are going to sound great together. Those 6-ply Gretsch shells from the 60's can sing. Nice find.

Look for signs of the shape of the badge on the bass drum. It'll either be round or stop-sign shaped. That'll tell you if it's 60'sor 70's. Still, it's a Jasper shell nonetheless, so you scored a high quality drum no matter what.

Tell us how they sound when you get to set them up for playing.

John

Added later: Look at the photo of the Slingy tom mount... see the round shadow in the finish in front of the mount? It's a Gretsch Round Badge bass drum. See if the hole for the tack in the center of the badge has been filled.

Ludwig late 70's clip-mount. Looks legit to me. The sides of clip on earlier ones were parallel if memory serves. Check me... I could be wrong about it. I'm just going by memory, there are guys here that know the part number for the thing. Wait until one of them chimes in.

john, thank you!

Yes, it appears that it has been filled with a dowel whe the badge would be

So far I have been able to match up that

The rail is gretsch

The bass drum spurs are also

And the are two cymbal mounts

Centered left and right on the top of the bass drum

Marked gretsch

But someone painted the inside white

But i can see silver underneath it..

Ad of course the horrible added slingerland mount.

I will probably dowel it..and stain match it

Still trying to figure out why the ludwig concert toms

Are eight lug and ten lug on the fourteen?

Never seen anything like that!

Also the clip mounts are not ludwig, but I dont know

Are they perhaps gretsch...?

I have very little experience with gretsch!

I love this forum!

I just measured again and the tom is 14 x13

I am pretty sure it is a ludwig power tom

Having ten lugs

I think also that someone just put gretsch lugs

On the ludwig! Wll have to confirm

The small classic ones will fit in the same holes

Somone drilled for three floor tom leg mounts

I have them soaking in coca cola right now

To shine them up

Then I will put the kit together

But so far it has cleaned up nicely
