Help Identify Slingerland Snare

Loading...

Hello,

This is my first day on Vintage Drums! I found an old Slingerland snare drum in my band room and would like to restore it. The only problem is, I can't figure out what it is in order to get the right parts. Maybe you can help.

The Drum has "Slingerland" and USN stamped into the metal of the drum. I assume the drum is from the Navy but there is no badge, so to speak, only the stamp or engraving. The drum is plain steel other than that (don't know if its COB, but its not magnetic).

Its got 8 lugs, the middle bulge of an older Slingerland but the lug blocks of a newer drum. The corrosion is consistent across all parts (except the poorly replaced strainer) so I'm not sure if all parts are original or replacements.

Additionally, the original throw-off holes show an H pattern throw-off but I can find no such throw-off listed for Slingerland drums (maybe I'm not good at searching).

Looks to be 6x14.

Any help would be most appreciated!!

Thanks!

Ben

Here you go and Welcome to the forum!

My guess is some sort of early model metal shell Radio King. The Slingerland experts will chime in soon.

The USN Determines that it was in the United States Navy, You've got a vet,Radio king on your hands. super rare, the throwoff isn't original to the drum.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!
