help id slingerland bass drum Last viewed: 1 day ago

I have a Slingerland red tiger pearl 20 inch bass drum with the niles black and brass badge. It has never been drilled for a tom mount. I would like to know what model kits this could have been a part of.

Possibly the "Be-Bop Outfit No. 62N? Or, it could have been one of two bass drums from a "Duet Outfit No. 14N" kit.

Ok, i looked at the catalog my drum does not have the cymbal holder so that would point to the duet. Btw the niles badge does have sn. Wish i had the other bd!! Thanks for the reply

What I'm reading shows Red Tiger Pearl was available from 70-73.. so that does seem to point at the Duet Outfit as the likely kit with no hardware on the bass drum.

I was thinking in might be a Jet Outfit 20N bass drum... but the books shows the tom got mounted in 68 on that kit so that doesn't match with the wrap.

Cook, The Slingerland Book, p.138, 202, 204.

What a striking finish... certainly must have made a statement on that double bass kit Duet Outfit.

Not a Guru... just interested..

Yea I love the finish, I want a matching snare but very hard to find. My uncle has one with his 4pc that he bought new in 70. This is what i am currently working on having a blast doing it. Ive got an 8x12 9x13, 10x14 marching snare converted to tom, 16x16 and ofcourse the bass drum in question. having a snare built buy stone custom drums have smoothie hi hat and a super speed pedal, waiting to get more cymbals and a double pedal!

I saw a guy selling an Artist Red Tiger Pearl snare for like 550 a couple months ago. I, too, have a complete Red Tiger Pearl kit, stands, pedals, throne, cymbals, the whole enchilada- immaculate condition, but it has a Krupa COB snare with it. I bought a wooden Artist off Deadhead a while back, in the hopes of finding some wrap to create a matching snare, but the wrap has proven to be elusive, at best.
