Help determining brand/model Last viewed: 20 hours ago

Hi all,

Found this snare for sale on Facebook. Can anyone help me determine brand from this pic? Lugs look like Slingy but I can't place the strainer.

Thanks in advance!

Lugs appear to be Slingerland but the hoops are regular triple flange instead of Slingerland stick-savers with the turned in upper flange. Throw off doesn't ring a bell but isn't a Slingy that I've ever seen and appears to be something more modern, probably a replacement for the original (or an indication that this drum isn't that old).

Really not enough to go on for ID in this picture. The BDP does look pretty good so it may well be a Slingerland with switched out hoops and perhaps a replaced Zoomatic...but many of the MIJ import drums of the 60's copied Slingerland's lug design...and exact copies are readily available now from drum parts suppliers so this could be a MIJ or home brew snare as easily as it could be an authentic Slingerland.

I believe what you have is a 60's MIJ Star/Tama snare drum, which uses Slingerland copy lugs and the CL (Compound-Lever) strainer. I'm attaching some pictures of a metal shell drum I had, using the same lugs and strainer system.

Thanks guys - at $60 I'm seriously considering grabbing it just for the heck of it. The wrap looks super cool!
