Welcome to the forum!

Because of the kits' historical value, replacing the inner shell would detract from over-all value and, no more 'original.' I would imagine that an experienced drum repair tech, or even a good cabinet-maker, would be able to execute a good repair of the crack.

I'm not a PC fan per se, although I always loved Genesis. I do recognize the historical significance of the kit though and I congratulate you on a great acquisition. Sorry to hear you're letting them go. Should do very well for you at auction. Do you have any form of provenance (documentation) for the kit? If not, might be a good idea to have it in-hand before auction time. It'll help boost value tremendously. In any event, thanks for sharing and best of luck with your sale.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Hi again

Since my original post I have had a change of heart about selling my kit. I am not interested how much it would bring in an auction as I realise it is worth more to me than just money. All this involvement with renovating the kit has renewed my enthusiasm to play again, and had quite a positive effect on me. I am back in practice mode! The resonator shell in the 14" tom will be replaced as it completely split in two, but as I have decided its 'till death us do part' I can live with the slight drop in originality! The bass drum shell is only cracked so I will get that repaired as you suggest 'Purdie Shuffle' (nice recognition of THE groove maestro Clapping Happy2)

Thank you for all your kind comments, time to get my chops back up (to my reasonably competent level)!

Cheers all
