I have a vintage Ludwig "pioneer" snare. The date inside appears to say 1961 though the last # is very hard to read. I got some good info, but was referred to this site for a ballpark figure on what the asking price of this drum might be. I am currently in school full time and had to quit my job. I really don't want to sell this snare, but I could use the money. I would like to see it go to someone who will appreciate it. Anyhow, it's not in great shape (a bit of rust on the tension rods and hoops, and it needs a good cleaning. However, I don't know the proper way of cleaning it and I certainly don't want to damage the finish.

Nice drum...unfortunately in not the best of condition and is missing some parts. If the drum was in near perfect condition, it might bring a few hundred....but that one will be under 200. Sorry to be vague. There's no real way of telling what it mmmmight sell for. It's just a range that I'm guessing it might sell within.

Looks like it might have nickel plated hardware,wrap looks good,I bet it would clean up well.Those are great shuffle/new orleans/roots rock drums IMO.If it is only missing a muffler not a huge deal.I agree 150.00 to 199.00

That was my first snare 6 lug Ludwig in W.M.P. i still have the drum today and have used it many times in the studio a great sounding drum..Yes your drum lug's ete are in nickel the only thing i see missing is the muffler-{they sell on ebay from 25.00 and up}- I would say your drum is a 150.00 drum as in the condition it's in...If you don't know how to clean it up and have nevered do so..I would leave the drum as-is and sell it....Mikey
