hi all! ive been offered a 5 piece gretsch stop sign kit in champagne sparkle.the sizes are 22,13,16,16.its in excellent condition,it also has steel bass drum hoops, it apparently owned by the shadows.is 1500 a good price for this? thanks all!

Do you know what year model it is? and can you get pics of it?, with the steel hoops it's a lower line model! the top of the line would have wood hoops!

thanks vm2! no pics as yet.the old boy who owns it is very cagey about it .ill try to get pics in due coure though there is no way id part with 1500 gbp for a low end kit

I don't think you're right about steel hoops used only on low-end drums. Most if not all Gretsch bass drums from several years in the 70's had steel hoops. It wasn't only the low-end, or single-headed, etc. They went back to wood hoops in the 80's. I don't know which years had the steel hoops, but you can use that to help date them (catalogs aren't always reliable since they often include some older pictures, but go to gretschdrums.com to see the 1977 catalog which includes some sets with steel hoops).
