Inmy new Gretsch book it shows the old ad from the 80's that came in a poster form catalog. I had this catalog and it was on my wall in my bedroom. That kit that shows in the ad is one of the most impressive looking kits to me because it was maple finish and had double rows of toms, double bass, and two snares. What I want to know is has anyone ever owned one or seen one? I have never seen the Gretsch Zenith kit on eBay or seen one in person. Even in the 80's this kit would have cost 6 grand. Easily it would be a great set because you could use pieces of it to make smaller kits that you could gig with or set it all up and do the Iron Maiden/Rush/VanHalen set up.

Yes, 17 pieces will definitely provide myriad combinations to play with. I, too, would love to know if any were ever made and whom might have one. Pics would be even cooler.

If i call right Gretsch never offered that set in a drum catalog.Only to show off the Gretsch drums.I do have a friend that had one that he put together the set was from the catalog with 2 bass drums and mounted toms from 6" to 16" and 2 floor toms 16 and 18..He ordered another set for toms 6" to 16" single head toms to add to the kit and a snare drum...Just to make a set like the one on the poster...He sold it years ago...Mikey
