Gretsch WMP 6 1/2X14" FLOOR SHOW MODEL #4153 1950'S 3 PLY Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Gretsch floor show 50's model 3 ply clear interior. WMP 6 1/2x14" this is the 6th I think? wooden gretsch snare drum I've owned. I prefer the 3 ply clear interior over the 6 ply silver interior. these Gretsch wooden snare drums usually aren't my cup of tea sound wise but this is one I could live with. This drum is 100% original . sans/ the new heads and snare wires, it needs a badge and grommet. This was one dirty bugger when purchased from a great CL ad buy!!! Detailed ,cleaned, and lubed. Novus polished and ready to serve.

Can't recall ever having the honor of playing a deeper Gretsch 3ply snare. I would imagine there is a TON of sweet warm woody tone from that. Nice snare.

They have a softer sweet wooden sound to them not like a ludwig or slingerland or rogers. this is my 3rd deep dish.

I got a thing for the Gretsch Floor Show snares. Love the mellow yellow, but what's with the cruddy hoops? Super-pitted?

Bill there is literally not one spot of chrome left on the rims. I have no clue never seen this on gretsch rims before.

Wow. I couldn't tell with my aging eyes. Well, the chrome plate doesn't affect sound, so who cares.

Again, nice find.

Bill, it's got nothing to do we your or my old eye's either there is not a drop of chrome left on the ole diecast rims, but this drum sounds so good, I am really starting to like THIS Gretsch snare drum! I have tuned it at 85/top Remo Vintage emperor and 85/ bottom evan 500 clear snare side using a tama tension watch. puresound 24 strand custom Steel not brass snare wires. Bill your so right the looks don't effect the sound nada! In fact the rims add to the Mojo of this ole girl!! I have loved Gretsch drums since my high school days, they seem to be either you love em or ya hate em. I'm a lover of gretsch drums. Will try to post some video of it in a day or so. soundwise.

I love shiny clean drums as much as the next guy, but that thing has some very cool mojo going on. I don't think I'd change it!

Mark that drum looks good the way it is.

I like some cleaned and some not cleaned (well not completely cleaned).

If you remember a month or so ago I posted my 1950 shell with the exact same drill-out as yours here. I put the same hardware as yours here on mine except I have different (not better - maybe not even as good) snare wires (old Gretsch ones) and different heads.

You made a fine score..and I agree....tons of mojo going on there.

Congratulations....again!
