Thinking about driving an hour or so to look at these drums. Seller has this one crappy picture. Gretsch? Looks like there are mufflers on both sides of each tom. Is this correct? Any idea about the age? or estimated value?
Thanks

Dual mufflers are correct on toms; single on bass. Can't tell the age though the tom mount doesn't look original Gretsch or it's a more modern era than I'm familiar with. Could be nice when cleaned up, though.
Tom mount has been switched to Ludwig. You can see the bolts filling the original diamond mount on the tom.
Sizes look to be 13/16/20.
Floor tom leg mounts look to have mounting screws showing, which points to 1950s if they are original.
Could be three ply.
What color is the wrap???
Definitely worth an hour drive if the price is right. My suggestion on price - check recent eBay completed sales for players kits - 1950s Round Badge in 13/16/20 size. Then reduce that a bit because they avoid fees and packaging hassles if you come get them.
Thanks for the heads up on the tom mount. Sure looks like luddy. Extra holes on the shell from the original Gretsch 'tab' style tom mount appear to have bolts in them. This is being sold at a FARM auction. There won't be another musical instrument in site. Wrap appears to be brown glitter. Does that help date the drums?
Thanks
jim
Not familiar with brown sparkle but it could be burgundy, which I believe would make them from the 60's. For the right price, this could be a really nice player's kit. (I agree that tom mount is Ludwig).
Just looked at the Gretsch wrap pages. The color appears to be Burgundy Sparkle, which is shown in the '66 catalog. I also found a 60s floor tom on the bay, which has leg bracket mounting bolts showing.
Thanks everyone.

Looks to me like Starlight with some fade to the bass drum and small tom. The FT mount is the earlier type with the screws on the outside, which would make more sense for Starlight. Burgundy doesn't seem to appear until maybe '62, but Starlight goes back to the mid to late 50's.
Good luck at the auction. I have had some success at auctions in the past.
KCDrumDad - Thanks for your suggestion to check ebay completed items. My findings will help establish a high-end bid, since we all know that buying drums at auction is totally rational. One should only bid with a clear purpose and unemotional attachment. Laughing H
Thanks also to everyone else for your input. I'm near certain I'll make it to the sale and will post a follow up tomorrow.

I paid $400 for these drums at auction today. I'll post pictures and details tomorrow, likely in a new thread. For now, let's just say that it feels a bit like the round badge fairy sprinkled magic dust on me. You won't believe it.
Thanks, everyone for your help yesterday.
