Gretsch 'SwingMan' out fit from late 30's

Picked up another super lucky Craigslist find yesterday, Gretsch Swing Man kit with intact reso side tacked heads and solid wood Broadkaster snare.

I need a 3 point strainer so I can play this snare!! Help2

Or if anyone knows of a replacement throw off that fits without drilling?

If not, I can fashion a plate myself to add a new throw without modding the shell...

:D

That's a great find, congrats! Can't be too many of those around anymore, I would think.

Nice find! Sorry can't help with parts. The Duco will clean up very well.

Clean? I leave all the old mojo! While I do appreciate guys cleaning up their vintage drums, we aren't living in a time capsule :) I did find a 13'' calf head just a bit ago at Revival Drum shop for $10 and some make shift throw parts to get me by so I can play these babies!

Cool !

Here is getting all the layers of dirt off a Duco finish. And a few coats of wax. Bit of camera effect. Color is solid.

Looks great, I might clean my snare up!

Anyone know anything about 30's wood Broadkaster snare drum shell layup?

Looks like solid ply maple with rings, whatever it is it sounds fantastic :D

The amount of no information on something like this kit is amazing me.

Been digging and can't find anything really about this era's Broadkaster snare drums!

Here is the catalog pic closest to your set and as it reads bold, "Blue and Silver duco." The catalog set has one non-tunable tom. Enjoy!
