Gretsch round badge

Need some help here. Picked this set up to rewrap and then figured maybe I should leave it alone? I don't know much, really nothing, about 60's Gretsch drums except the badges are worth something? Is this set best sold "as-is" and if so...how much? All shells, bearing edges etc. are in great shape, just the wrap looks like hell. All original everything except the spurs are repro replacements. Clue me in please!! Both toms have intact paper tags...the bass has none.

You have an excellent RB set w/ an original finish,... best to leave it alone. I doubt you could do anything that would make it better. Sometimes a worn & scratched original finish is better than a rewrap. (Do you object to this particular color ? , or is the finish broken & degraded. It doesn't look bad from the photos)

5 minutes of searching should give you plenty of ideas of what a 3 piece RB goes for in the current market.

I second these comments. The satin flame wraps do not wear well. However, removing the wrap will reduce the value of the kit. If you don't like the finish, don't rewrap, just sell them.

Collecting information about the following for ongoing research projects:
Gretsch drums with serial numbers,
Ludwig Keystone and B/O badge drums with serial numbers and date stamps,
Ludwig Standards from 1968-73, and
Ludwigs with paper labels from 1971-72

If you think your set is bad,you haven't seen some of the kits I have had in SF!

Some of them looked like someone took a paring knife to the finish!

These comments are right on the money. For satin flames, that finish is actually in pretty nice shape. Little cracks and spiderwebs are par for the course. I had a RB satin flame that was a train wreck compared to yours and ultimately had to rewrap it. Even in that shape, I wish I could have kept the original. If you don't like it, consider selling it and getting something you like. Somebody out there will pay some pretty good coin for your kit just the way it is.
