Gretsch Rocket Snare? Last viewed: 19 hours ago

Loading...

I talked to a guy tonight that offered me a 6.5x14 Gretsch "Rocket" Snare from the 40's with a weird painted gold to green fade finish in partial trade for a Vistalite Kit I am selling. Said it was a round badge drum.

Does anyone have an idea what this might be? Is he referring to a Broadkaster snare with Rocket lugs? Was there actually a model called a "Rocket" snare?

Also said it is a 6 ply drum. Does that make sense for the era? I am not up on that old of Gretsch stuff.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

The lugs are known as Rocket lugs Gretsch used the same lugs on the toms and bass drums..40s snare should be 4 ply and clear inside if its painted silver the shell is not 40s/50s...Mikey

Thanks Mikey.

Have you ever seen anything that could be described as a yellow or orange to green fade paint job on an old Gretsch?

Sounds home made to me.

Thanks!
