Beautiful kit!

I have that same exact wrap on my ~72 stop-sign badge kit (13,16,22 w/ 4160 COB). I never actually knew it was called "Red Wine Pearl" but that is the PERFECT description of the finish. I have not seen many kits with this finish! I've had mine since the mid-70's, when my Mom bought them 2nd-hand off a guy who had bought them for his son (but the son never played them). The kit came with a set of Zilco hats and a Zilco ride (still have both, but rarely play the ride).

One of my biggest 'musical" regrets is that in the late-70's I just HAD TO HAVE a second rack tom (which was a popular configuration at the time). Hey, I was just a kid! At the time we lived near Morristown, NJ and Muzzy Mizzoni's shop recovered a Pearl 12" rack tom with some (pretty dang close matching) red pearl and mounted the 12 and 13 on the BD with a consolette rail. Luckily this only added 4 small holes to the BD shell, but STILL!

The 13 has a light amount of snare rash on the backside, but I have literally played these drums for a lifetime and they still look/sound amazing. The 13 has lived in a snare stand next to the bass drum (the original config) for the last 20 years or so. I'll try to post a pic later on tonight.

Hard to believe I've been playing these drums for nearly 40 years. Thanks again, Mom and Dad!

Thanks for posting those pictures, Murph. The wrap is truly amazing, the only one that I think comes close is the greenish version of the same wrap, think they called it something like Emerald Pearl, I've only seen one single drum with that wrap. I've just posted my kit on Ebay and it looks like the fish are biting!

Cheers!

I had a Emerald Green Pearl RB 20,12,13,16 kit long ago....it,s in Japan now....

A customer from there that travels the world stopped at my house, saw it,and said if I ever wanted to sell it,to call him...

It was my personal kit for quite a while....

Finally ,decided to sell it..so I sold it to him.....

When I got it..it was missing all sorts of parts I remember..but luckily..I had them....

I remember people that didn,t even play drums would see it,and go..."wow!....that's a pretty drumset!"....you usually don't get that from non drummers!

I sometimes miss drums I've owned, but these Gretsch drums are hard to let go.

Found a picture of the Emerald wrap, stunning!

That's it!

Rare as can be in RB....

You see a few here and there in Stop Sign.....

I remember I got them from a church..the pastor called me one night from my ad in MD...and asked if I wanted to buy them......
