Gretsch RB Champaign Sparkle

Hey guys,

A friend of mine has this kit for sale in a desirable color, desirable sizes and matching snare. I believe I would be up for purchasing it myself, but just have not been getting much interest in vintage kits from my customers and I hate to see this collecting dust on my shelves. I have not seen the kit other than photos, but it looks to be in really good condition. Obviously the spurs have been replaced but, as I understand it, those are the only mods. To me, that is a serious improvement, but I also understand that the new spurs hinder the value. He is the second owner of the kit. He is probably asking too much, but he is open to offers. I believe he has a set of vintage Zildjians that came with it. Looks like he also has a Slingerland snare that is available.

This deal has nothing to do with me, but I thought I would see if anyone here was interested before he goes to CL or eBay. Let me know via PM and I will see if I can put you in touch with him.

The Kit is an early 60’s Gretsch Round Badge 4 Piece Champaign:

Snare 4157 5.5x14 (Serial#: 2311)

Rack 4415 8x12 (Serial#: 89540)

Floor 4417 14x14 (Serial#: 82730)

Kick 4249 14x20 (Serial Number has fallen off over time)

Additional Late 1960’s Slingerland Snare.

I believe he is asking 4k for the 5 drums and hardware. I've told him that I felt this was too high and he is amenable to offers.

Especially considering the huge legs mounted on the bass drum.

Steve sold my perfect condition RB champagne 12 14 20 w snare and no mods for 3800. I would have done 3k. Good luck to your friend!
