Gretsch question

I have a gretsch tom that is stamped 1952 but has a badge with a tack in it. Doesn't the tack mean it's 60's but the date is 52... Anyone want to take a stab at this? ( the tom cleaned up nicely, I'll send pics after I clean up the whole set..)

Tacked badges were used on tom forever until the 1970's when vented grommets replaced the tacks. The tacks had different styles in the 40's and earlier.
