OK, after searching for years I finally found a RB 14 X 14 for my

set. I have a 20/12/16 and have wanted to downsize.

It needed a few parts but I have managed to come up with the right ones.

Now my questions:

1. I have seen round badge 14 X 14s with both straight and curved legs.

Is one right and one wrong?

2. I have planned on having the drum re-wrapped in black nitron to match my set. however, the original silver sparkle wrap is real good except loose at seam and a very small tear. Am I destroying value by re-wrapping?

It is toned to a nice almost gold/rose color and is beautiful.

Good part is it tunes easily and sounds great.

Bill as you already know that is a rare monkey you have here.Don't re wrap it, just repair the original wrap and sale it for a tidy profit and buy the drum your after, re wrap will have a negative effect on the resale of this particular drum.

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

me too but a luddy

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

Well, the one thing I am NOT going to do is sell it.

It was very hard to find. Right now I have $411 in it

and still need correct thumb screws for the tom legs.

I bought it to play. Both for size and sound. Played with a 16 for years and will use it sometimes but I LOVE the sound of this 14 with my 12.

I am not a vintage drum purist but I am a vintage drummer.

Been at it over 50 years now. Retired now so playing more.

Jazz mostly.

I wouldn't normally ever consider that goofy crapola that's sold on eBay, but this may be the perfect situation for some black SparkleBrite.

1. I believe the drum should have the straight legs.

2. If you're not selling it, then do what you want.

I think that's the perfect solution. Just have the one glued seam cover wrap, black nitron looking for cosmetic purposes, keeping the drums original wrap intact underneath. (if that's what black sparklebright is?)

I agree...if you are keeping it for yourself, go ahead, wrap away! :D

Besides, the wrap that is on it is pretty much shot anyway, so personally I don't think it will be "de-valued"......ok, I'm ducking now from the plethora of crap that is about to be flung at me because of that statement from other forum members.... :p
