Well, i bought the shell, hoops, lugs, tension rods, snares, and a Trick throw-off and butt plate. I go to start putting the lugs on and find out that the lugs are too long for the metal shell meaning that the threaded posts are too long. So when you put the screws on the lug is loose and clanks back and forth. So now I have to get more lugs. I didn't know there was a difference between the lugs on a wood shell and a metal shell Gretsch. Are the lugs the same and it is just a different washer used on the COB snare? I think I am just going to get a complete drum with a Lightning and put the 42 strand snares on it. I swear to God I never thought this was going to be this much of a pain. All this and I think what I really want is a Dynasonic. LOL! Anyone need snares for a wood RB snare drum? I have a COB shell, hoops from the same drum too. These look just like the ones on my RB snare which is approximately 59-61 era. I am ready to scrap this project. Frustrated in Florida.

Have you thought about cup washers? That's how Ludwig handled the situation. Regular washers would work, but you may have to use several per screw.

Collecting information about the following for ongoing research projects:
Gretsch drums with serial numbers,
Ludwig Keystone and B/O badge drums with serial numbers and date stamps,
Ludwig Standards from 1968-73, and
Ludwigs with paper labels from 1971-72

Hey guys. Thanks for the suggestions. I actually thought about them when I was trying to put the lugs on remembering that my Supraphonic had some weird concave washers. That is nice of you for offering. What would you take for them?

You would need what, 32 of them?

I have 28 cups and screws and two screws.

Send me your address by PM and I'll send them to 'ya.

No charge, happy to help.
