Hello Everyone!

I just have a question or so about a Rogers 6.5 X 14 COB Custom Built Dyna-Sonic snare; serial number 42464. I would deeply appreciate any information regarding date, build location, estimated value in very good + used condition, and perhaps how common/rare this drum may be.

It is unlikely that I would sell this drum, I would just like to know.

Thank you all in advance for your input.

Yours Truly,

A1

Pics would help,a lot of times construction details are a better indicator of age/rarity and value. As far as I can tell the 6.5 is rarer and in this case more valuable, generally bringing about 25 per cent more than a 5" depth, with with cleveland era beavertail lugs most desirable.

Early 70s. Fullerton,Ca, 9/72 era.

Follow TommyP's instructions for set up. They work.

Value is what you can get for it. Really good drums will go for 275-400 on any given day, depending on how bad a buyer wants it. Start it at 400, it wont sell, unless some one just has to have it.

Hey BBK!...

Thanks for the call out!... always nice to hear from you! Whereas I do monitor this board DAILY, I am in the middle of a hectic gig schedule... ( as summer tends to be for me ) ... thus I don't have the time to post as much as I would like or normally do when my playing schedule relaxes. That being said...

Ploughman! Right on the mark as you most always are! Thanks for mentioning my Dynasonic set-up tutorial/instructions too! They do indeed work and get the drum in a nice area which can then be "tweaked" for one's personal "sound/style" as it were. Here's the direct link for any that are interested: http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/rogers_dynasonic_set_up2.html

Is it complete and original?

Greetings all!

Hey, Thanks you all very much for your informative replies. I will try to get a few pics posted soon.

The drum is all original as well as I can tell. I have "The Rogers Book" 2nd ed.

Not convinced I would part with it. it is all I have left of my old 23 piece set of 15 years ago, besides a bass pedal and 2 Zildjians. Will have to rebuild a piece at a time. The sound of this snare is AWESOME!

I will check for any incidental scratches or dings it may have received when I shipped it back from Hawaii. I didn't notice any, but a close inspection is due. Thanks again.
