I've got a blue sparkle Trixon cocktail kit that I've been gigging out with for over half a year and have done a few recording sessions with as well.
It was $300 (best offer) and I couldn't be more satisfied. I don't set it up like the picture. I keep the snare and tom mounted to the left. My band members love it too. Even though it came with cymbals (that aren't really terrible) I use a K flat ride and 13" Sabian fusion hats. The heads it came with a clear (and I hate clear), so I put coated Aquarians on it. It sounds fantastic and fits in the front seat of my Miata. What other way could a working drummer drive a Miata to gigs? With a couple of gig bags, I'm able to make it from the car to the stage in one trip.
Anyway, with a good set of coated heads and some decent cymbals, the Trixon can take it all night long. I have no affiliation with them at all. I just think I got a great kit for a steal. I played a 4 hour gig with it last night at TGI Friday's. It also kind of sts you apart from other bands as well. I've only used my full Slingerland kit at gigs about 3-4 times since I bought the cocktail kit in January of last year. I do 2-4 gigs a month on average. It kind of sucks standing up all night. But you do get used to it. Just wear comfortable shoes.
