Getting a Bad Feeling _ eBay Purchase

Loading...

Its just disappointing that this seller, who has a pretty good grasp on vintage percussion and hardware based on feedback history, couldn't provide additional information about these shells in the description.

I guess if he/she truly has no idea what brand the drums are, then the description provided was okay.

Like others have said, not knowing a full timeline of communication between the yourself and the seller makes it difficult to gauge.

If you asked a question 3 hours before the auction ended after placing a bid, vs. asking a question 5 days before the item ends without placing a bid.

Good luck and please let us know how it goes!

I honestly don't think you have anything to complain about, the shipping cost was right there in black&white.

On a more positive note, I cannot wait to see what you end up with.

If the seller re-wrapped those shells him/herself then they lost a pretty good chunk of change on the transaction not to mention the time lost. That could easily account for any attitude you may have perceived. That is the risk sellers take with a no reserve auction.

Sorry for the late response.I owned a 50's "stick chopper"Gretsch set with reverse bearing edges.Rounded to the OUTSIDE with very little inside cut, just a break on the inside edge.Beautiful 13/16/24 in Sky Blue Pearl.I could NOT get them to tune right.Very ringy with overtones.Gone now...So why do my "pedestrian" 1983 Tama Superstars in the same dimensions tune so easy?

I don't think the 16 has a rering-it's a ply deviation,a seam.

Geez, it can be like having dinner with a group of razor-tongued Hollywood movie critics around here sometimes! Storm Trooper

Let's wish the guy well and hope he scores with some 3 or 6 ply Gretsch shells in Aqua-marine blue. If you look real close at the facing-front part of the shell in the second photo at ebay, you can see what looks like the shadow of a Gretsch round badge on the wrap... smack in the middle of the drum. If these turn out to be Gretsch, it'll be the kind of kit you usually only find featured at Maxwell's... for those who can afford them.

Score of the year if Gretsch. Let's root for the guy... I'm waiting to find out myself now. Like following an old-school soap opera!

Too many great drums to list here!
