George Way 20" Bass Drum!!! Last viewed: 15 seconds ago

I just picked up this 20" GW bass drum. It's only the 4th one I know of. I'm going to put it with my 14x14 gold sparkle floor tom. I've got a 12" tom I'm going to have re-wrapped in red sparkle and just make the drums a jellybean kit.

Hey Steve, congrats! Except for that rail plate, it's identical to the way mine was originally! If there are only a few of these around, I wonder if they were all Blue Sparkle? Do you know what color/finish the other one in the UK is?

I never ask this question, but I'm itching to know... how much did you have to pay for it? Has a 'market value' for these rare Geo. Way 20's been established?

John,

The one in the UK is BDP. The other 3 including yours and mine are all blue sparkle. The original rail was on top and was probably a typical round tube rail. The rail on there now looks like a Leedy. I had my 20/12/14 Ludwig WMP Clubdates on Craigslist for $650. I did a straight trade for the bass drum and 5.5x14 6 lug snare drum.

Blair,

Calf heads on both sides of the bass drum!

You did Great on the trade! I can't help wondering what one of these would go for in the open market. I imagine not many people/drummers know how rare the Geo. Way 20"s are. BTW, I never removed the original wrap. I used a water-based contact cement and wrapped right over it to get my matching orphan kit. I wouldn't remove the wrap on a dare in case someone in the future wants to restore it to the original condition. It would be a hell of a clean-up, but the drum -can be- restored if so desired.
