Hey

Look what an interesting photo I found. Gene Krupa playing full set of Rogers Beavertails with a Slingerland front BD head.

Heh....I'm quite skeptical of this photo, though I have seen Gene behind a set of Gretsch.

There's a story Harry Cangany tells in his book"Great American Drums",that starts with a phone call from a dealer to Ben Strauss.(page 38,last paragraph in the left columb.)

The dealer wants to know if Rogers can make him a dynasonic covered in WMP and no hardware except the strainer and frame.

The story goes that Rogers did build the drum, and ship it to the dealer where the dealer drilled the shell for Slingerland lugs and sent it off to Gene Krupa.

Somehow H.H. Slingerland found out,and Gene was soon back to using his RK.

I wonder what THAT drum(if it exists) is worth.

Cool picture of Gene on the Rogers kit at Dodger Stadium!

BTW, check out the depth of the Dynasonic. Appears to be 4 or 4.5 x 14. Interesting!

Not so related BUT...

Big news here this morning is that the Dodgers are playing in Sydney next year... a new precedent...

I'll be heading out there for sure...

Cheers
