Gear Question: Terry Chambers of XTC Last viewed: 21 hours ago

Anyone know ANYTHING about what he played? I will be playing for an XTC Tribute performance and need to know what to haul out - as in - Paiste line up of some B20s?

Then again - now that I think about it - several drummers I will be covering. Here is the setlist:

Rocket from a Bottle - Terry

Earn Enough for Us - Prairie Prince (Paiste since 1983)

Generals and Majors - Terry

Senses Working Overtime - Terry

Peter Pumkinhead - Dave Mattacks (Zildjian endorser)

The Loving - Pat Mastelotto (Paiste since 1988)

Towers of London - Terry

Respectable Street - Terry

Thanks in advance!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Starr and Bonham may be scrutinised by some audience members. XTC? Not so much.

I love XTC BTW. He was a Tama guy?

I don't think DM was a Zil endorser at that time...but not positive......

Watch some YT vids of Terry...that should clear it up!

I somehow ended up on Paiste poster with TC. He played with local band Dragon for a while. Have to send you a pic. His cymbals are about 7 feet high. 2000 and 3000 B8 I believe. Nice guy and a good musician

I am a member of a group on Facebook that is for XTC fans. I posted this same question on there - several responses, one quite informative.....bit the kicker is......

Terry's wife responded and said she would ask him about it and report back. I will share here what (we) all learn from her inquiry.

I have ( originally on cassette but now transferred to CDR ) an over 2 hour interview Terry did with an Australian indie radio guy and huge XTC fan ( from whom I got the cassette ) via the telephone about 15 years ago that is a trip to listen to . Unfortunately there was no talk about equipment . I also have the interview he did with Andy soon after which is also a must hear !

From a 2002 interview with Todd Bernhardt for Chalkhills ( XTC fan site/forum ) :

TB: Now, what kind of kit were you playing then?

TC: At that point, I was playing Tama drums. I'd picked up a bit of a sponsorship -- we went to Japan, and came up with some sort of factory deal there. Primarily it was Tama drums and Paiste cymbals. I mean, I wasn't given anything, but we got a reasonable rate, and if for some reason or another we were in a place where we needed to do a TV show or something like that, Tama would come along and provide a kit for the dummy run and all this business that used to take place -- you know, the bloody miming routine -- while my regular kit was probably being set up where we were playing live later on.
