LOL - Endurance is why I called that number you posted a 'kill the drummer' tune! I always ask bands I play with to save any numbers that are going to burn me out for the end of the sets. If I have to do some crazy double-time thing early on in a set, I'm burned out for whatever follows. Singers do the same thing, they will save voice shredding songs for the end of sets. You can work out anyway because it's good for you, but sit down with the band when songs for sets are being selected and see if you can't make it a little easier on yourself. The bands I've worked with have always been cooperative that way willing to move a tune or two around so that I don't get burned out half way through a set. I also -always- take a B-12 an hour before a gig... for endurance! That and drinking water during the set gets me through two hour sessions without me collapsing. B-12 and sipping water... it works.John

John,

The B-12 sounds like a great idea. I will try that from now on. I will admit I was lacking on my usual stash of water during this set. Normally I am pounding the water between songs. For this band it's hard to work the set; they are all fast ones really except for our cover.

Manny - Just ask them to move a couple of the more demanding tunes for the end of the set. It shouldn't be a problem. In the 90's I was playing for a Hendrix/SRV cover band. We'd always save stuff like 'Manic Depression' or 'Third Stone From The Sun' for the end of a set because the guys knew it would take it all out of me for anything that comes behind it in the set list. It's an accommodation for sure, but not an unreasonable one and it will make the job easier and less demanding for you. The B-12 really helps too. I'm decades older than you so I really need a little 'assist' to get through 2/3 hour gigs. Ever since I started the B-12 routine, I hold up just fine.

Take it easy on the drummer I always say! :p

John

Too many great drums to list here!
