From in a duck blind! GRETSCH STARLIGHT : 14X18, 14X16, 14X14, 8X12, 5X14

Very excited about this recent acquisition. It was Friday after Thanksgiving and while sitting in a duck bling, I was able to win this kit at auction.

Gretsch Starlight Sparke : 14x16, 14x18, 14x14, 8x12, 5x14

It formerly belonged to Nick Moffo, a well known jazz drummer and drum builder from PA. It seems like Nick preferred the 14x16 bass drum as the 14x18 has hardly seen any play at all! The drums are totally original with no modifications. The rail on the 16 sits very close to the edge, which is interesting! This must have been a custom request by Nick back in the 60s. Stamped "Special" on the interior tag, its the real deal!

The drums remain in the exact condition as I received them. With a little light cleaning and seam / inlay repair, this is going to be one hell of a jazz machine!

Was drooling over these on DFO. Glad you posted them here too. Congrats they are beauty's for sure. And some nice other gems in that one picture too.
