Free floating drums/Vintage drums&Rogers.

Loading...

I,m led to believe that in the 50s one of the great American drum companys made free floating drums.Does anyone on this forum know who did&were they like Sleishman or were they a completely different type of free floating design?.Also i,ve read that Rogers drums are "The Cadillac" of drums is this true in both terms of quality &resonance, thiness of there shells?.I,m looking for a vintage kit but don,t know which brand to look for, all i,m looking for is quality interms of construction&sound resonant&THIN shells the thinner(less then 3ply) the better! :), any unbiased advice help&suggestions?.

Who or what led you to believe that a US firm came up with the suspended, hardware free, shell concept? To my knowledge, Don Sleishmann was the first to produce such a drum.

I think the free-floating, hardware-free concept was around long before Sleishman....

Free floating shell .. but the mounting option was not "free floating". A La Sleishman..

As for your question about Rogers, yes, in my opinion they are the best. I've owned several vintage Ludwig, Slingerland, Gretsch and Rogers kits and I've always found they were the most versatile and easiest to tune. Not to mention the hardware and quality of the drums was superior.
