first off, I don't know much about tama drums. I will share what info I have run across concerning this beautiful snare drum though. this is a incredible drum. it is a mid 80's tama 6.5x14 10 lug seamless steel ribbed shell model. I think it may be a pl106 or a powerline model that came with the granstars or artstars. it has the hard to find one piece bowtie/sharksteeth lugs. 10 of these lugs recently sold for over 150 bucks on ebay. they are hard to come by from what i'm told.
ive had it for awhile and have thoroughly enjoyed it. it has a very musical, sensitive, resonant sound to it. this one has die cast hoops that I assume are brass. they are extremely heavy and the magnet does not adhere to them. the drum itself is built like a tank and is very heavy. I broke it down today and did a complete detail on it. it has no rust, scratches or dents. its been cared for nicely. there is some pitting on the shell and some of the lugs. it is light pitting and there is no chrome loss.
the serial number on this one is 001305. it has what appears to be original tama 42 strand wires. it has the original strainer and butt plate from what I can tell. has a nice remo coated ambassador on the batter and also a like new clear ambassador snares side head. it is cleaned, tuned and ready to play as soon as you get it.
hate to let it go...but I need the room and the funds. hope someone can make this their Christmas present this year. please feel free to pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth.net if you have any questions. thanks for checking it out.
