For Sale: Ludwig Transition Badge Pioneer

Have had this baby a few years now. Have no matching drums for it. Time for a new home! This is a Ludwig Transition badge Pioneer. 5x14 6 lug model in original Blue/Silver duco finish. Beautiful clear mahogany interior date stamped March 7 1960 with maple re-rings. Bearing edges are very nice. Has the very uncommon 3 point Large Pioneer strainer that was only used for a short period of time. Has the correct WFL snare butt and brass hoops. Hardware is nickel finish. Drum is good and clean and the nickel could be polished to a higher lustre if you desired to do so. Has a great set of Ludwig 2517124 20 strand amber tip wires with original snare cords. Has a new Remo Diplomat snare side head. Original Duco finish looks very nice. You can see some scratches in the attached pics. Has some paint crazing here and there that is common with a 50 plus year old drum. These drums are very versatile in sound. Can be tuned tight to sound much like a Jazz Festival. I like them in a moderate tuning with wires a little loose. It's the sound that you have heard on so many old songs. These 3 ply mahogany/poplar/maple shells really sing.

Feel free to pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth.net if you have any questions. Thanks for checking it out.
