For Sale: Ludwig '69 Super-Sensitive

This a '69 Ludwig 5x14 10 lug Super-Sensitive snare. I bought this a few years ago from the family of the original owner. He was a retired Jazz drummer. It came to me with original heads even, but they were starting to split at the bearing edges. I have installed a new Ludwig heavy coated batter head (same thickness as Remo coated ambassador) and a Ludwig x-thin snare side head. Drum is original including all matching tension rods and correct Ludwig transitional block logo snare wires. This is essentially a 60's drum with the newer 70's style mechanism from the factory. Very good combination and it sounds great. Serial number is 725838 and has an interior date stamp of May 21 1969. That drum has no dents or damage, but has a few panels that have some of the infamous Ludwig freckles. You can see it in the picture with the throwoff arm. A few of the lugs have some scratching on the very outer edge as well. It's still a beautiful drum I think. Large round knob muffler works properly. Only selling due to some financial issues. This my only Super-Sensitive. Drum has been thoroughly detailed and ready to use. Please feel free to pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth.net if you have any questions. Thanks for checking it out.

Thanks guys. Very nice snare you have there Heraldo. Looks great.

If you've never owned a S/S, no fear about the mechanism. This model simply has one adjustable knob at each end for snare tension. Then an on and off throw lever. Simple as pie.

Mike how does a super sensitive compare sound wise to an Acrolite? If you or anyone could indulge us? Thanks.

Larry-to me the comparsion would be the same as how does a Supra sound compared to an Acrolite. The Super-Sensitive is essentially a Supraphonic with a different snare system. Has a little more crack or pop than an Acrolite as it has 10 lugs compared to the Acrolite's 8 lugs.
