5x14 Ludwig supraphonic 10 lug snare. date stamp of august 5th or 6th,1968 or 1969. serial number is 737083. so. its most likely a 69 model. can't quite tell for sure. this one had been tucked away in a closet for decades. no pitting or peeling. in the badge panel you can see a slight scratch and a nick. that's about it. all original except heads. has the Ludwig chrome script 18 strand wires,12 hole black face p85 and Ludwig script logo snare butt. all matching original tension rods. beautiful, clean and sounds like a supra should sound! has a remo ambassador snare side head and a smooth white batter head. there was some corrosion on the top hoop at the tension rods.they cleaned up pretty good but not perfectly. please feel free to pm me here or email to mikelayton@bellsouth.net if you have any questions. $ 375 plus 20 insured shipping to the lower 48. actual shipping cost anywhere else.

Mr. Layton, I have a 68-69 5x14 Supra.

Came with a P 85, from a pawnshop.

Someone???????? on this forum told me the P 85 was not correct.

So I replaced it with a P-83.

Could either of these throw-offs been installed by Ludwig at the time?

I think the answer is yes.

Because Ludwig was not exactly like NASA when assembling these drums..

right?.

"Will that part fit?" "Well bolt it on, we are not building the Space Shuttle"

er ...uhh.............."what's a space shuttle?"

Your drum for sale is in GREAT condition.

youre exactly right. once you get into the late 60's, it is certainly a transition period. a 12 hole p85 would be correct. a script logo p83 would be correct. and even a block logo p83 like the standards had have been seen on very late 60's supras. if your drum had a 2 hole p85, then i'd say it had been changed.

thanks!

I pulled out the original throw that came with the drum.

P-85, No black on inner section, No holes at all. pinch plate with 2 screw pinch plate attachment.

Replacement is a P-83, script logo, 12 hole.

I think I am safe now.?

I was new to the forum when I posted pics of this supra.

The guys were all over me about the details.

Missing badge, Now re-installed.

Wrong throw-off.

I think that was it.

I was humbled and quickly sought out the correct parts.

"I am much better now" (sarah conner)

Thanks Mike

It does look weird.

It means scott atkinson is the green glass drum

sa=ggd

What did it seem to mean?

Something religious maybe?

New mathematical equation?

I think it may have been kind of dumb on my part.

Thanks for the throw off info.

I already have an LM 400. Otherwise, yours looks like a great deal on a drum in really good condition.

Some of these are so pitted.

Love the misleading/slightly untrue blue anti galvanic sticker in these shells.

My new LM 402 has the sticker intact.

sa=a very nerdy dude
