OK, next set is ready to head for eBay.

These are an absolutely beautiful drums. I believe they are mahogany inside and out. Here is the story on when I bought them and restored them....

http://www.vintagedrumforum.com/showthread.php?t=12181

Here is the situation. I believe this set was originally issued as a 3 piece set. Snare, rack tom and kick. At least, that's how I bought it. I added the floor tom (it's a Blue and Olive badge maple). The wrap on the floor tom is a very very close match to the rest of the drums. To look at them, you would never know it's not a complete set.

I am keeping the snare. Of the over 100 snares I have (had) this one is in the top 3 of my favorites so it's not going anywhere. LOL

As mentioned in the thread above, the kick has 4 extra holes where the rail mount was moved. The rack tom and the floor tom are near flawless.

Since it is not a matched set, I can sell the floor tom together or separate.

Here is my dilemma... I like to, at least break even when I buy and sell a drum set. Even though I have a zillion hours of restoration in this set, that's not dollars so all I want it what I have into it.

I have almost 600 into the kick and rack tom. Another 250 in the floor tom (this includes the new Beato Pro 3 cases they will ship in). Ebay fees will be $100 and shipping will be over $100. That means I need to list this set for $1100 on eBay to break even.

Love to hear your opinions on this. I saw some sets going for over $1000 and up to $1500 but they were either the (more desirable) downbeat kits or they were mint or they had the snare included or some other feature that I don't offer. Certainly, they were all matched sets (unlike mine).

The floor tom will likely bring over $300 if I sell it separately but I doubt I can get the 7-800 I need for the other 2 drums. Especially, considering the extra holes on the kick drum. Also, I don't believe all 4 legs are original and the thread above says the cymbal mount was covered with a screw and washer so I must have bought the cymbal mount separately (and is, therefore, not the original). The cymbal mount rod is aftermarket (actually, I think it goes with my Slingy jazz kit so it may not even be included). Lot of downside (IMO).

It is an absolutely stunning set and I detailed this set beyond belief with every lug and insert and spring and tension rod being carefully cleaned, polished and waxed. The springs were gently rolled on a lightly oiled rag before re-assembly. I believe I backed all the lugs with felt to eliminate spring rattle. I really went overboard with this one.

Still, I'm not sure it's worth what I have into it. Like I said, I would love to hear opinions on this. I will be taking some close-up pics of them today when I tear down the set and pack it. I always post a ton of pics in my auctions.

I value the opinions here so don't hold back. If you have something to say (good or bad) I am interested in hearing your opinion.

As always, thanks.

I have listed the bass drum and rack tom on eBay. I can sell the kick drum and the rack tom for $575 plus actual shipping.

There are some nicer pictures on the auction if you're interested....

Once I sell those 2 drums, if the buyer doesn't want the floor tom, I will sell it separately.

Thanks
