floor tom leg brackets Last viewed: 4 days ago

i posted a thread on drumsmith.com looking for advice on possible replacements for my WFL floor tom leg brackets. theyre the spring lever type with straight legs. the legs slip and also the drum itself wasnt stable. originally i wanted a modern style bracket with wingnut but i've found that they generally come with hole spacing 2 inches (centre to centre) apart and the existing holes are 2.5" apart. there doesnt appear to be a modern bracket out there that caters for this hole spacing so the options are get the modern brackets and drill new holes or find some alternative. i should also point out that i gig with this drum kit (WFL buddy rich super classic circa 1949) and my ideal scenario is to undo the wingnut slide the 17" legs back and put the whole drum legs 'n all back into its case. i could always completely remove the legs but i dont have any space for them in the hardware cannister/seat. i suppose originally i thought it wouldnt be so hard to find suitable replacements for these brackets without having to drill new holes but after much searching online i find myself writing this post in the hope someone has dealt with this before. the lads at drumsmith suggested posting here but also came up with RIMS or the brackets in the attachment. i lifted this picture from the coopersvintagedrums.com. it's a leedy bracket similar to the one on my floor tom except it has a wing nut. this seems like a better proposition than the original lever style. i have the 17" repro angled legs with serated edging now so perhaps this combination will work. does anyone know where to find vintage parts such as these brackets or indeed know of anyone making repro parts suited to this type of thing? thanks
