Flat Jacks Anyone?

I just won this snare tonight...

I have only seen photos of these drums all I know as far as history is these drums were made if I recall from the late 50s to the 6os in the usa.

I will post better photos of the drum when I get in the mail.

When properly headed and tweaked, that snare drum will crack like a bull whip. I gigged with a Flat Jacks set in the mid 1960's. We played loud Rock n Roll.

Here is a modern take on that concept from DW. I've never seen a set of these DW's myself so I assume they're fairly new. All the shells are 3 inches deep. I did once get the opportunity to play on a set of flat jacks back in the day but they weren't my cup of tea.
