Fitting Heads On Gretsch and Others

Hoping you all can help with some questions:

Was Gretsch the only company to have oversized shells in the 60's? If 60's era Gretsch drums were oversized, did players have trouble fitting plastic heads on them when the plastic heads were first introduced, or were the early plastic heads oversized? Tangentially, does anyone know if modern glass glitter wraps are thicker than 60's era glass glitter wraps?

Remo made special sized heads for G. back in the 60's..

Do you mean early remo heads were oversized to accommodate Gretsch shells? Were/are other brands oversized as well?

Yes,Remo made them oversized for G.

No one else had oversized shells AFAIK..
