Finally got a Supraphonic!! Last viewed: 52 minutes ago

I finally got around to picking up a Supra (abut time i know!).

It's serial # 633970 so i'm assuming 1968 by the dating guides online. If so that's pretty cool because my Dyna and Powertone's are both '68 too. Also my mom would have been pregnant with me at the time and my birthday is a saturday in 1969 and Ludwig weren't making drums on weekends by then so hey close enough for me!

Anyways she's not missing anything, including original snares (but not heads), tone control is black (or dark grey, she hasn't been opened yet) and by the weight definitely not COB.

I picked her up with a 5 piece 80's Swingstar w/ Speed King, Paiste & Zildjians, lots of stands, anvil fibre cases and spare heads for $400 cdn.

1964 Ludwig Champagne Super Classic
1970 Ludwig Blue Oyster Super Classic
1977 Rogers Big R Londoner 5 ebony
1972/1978 Rogers Powertone/Big R mix ebony
60's Ludwig Supersensitive
Pearl B4514 COB snare ( the SC snare)
Pearl Firecracker
PJL WMP maple snare
Odds & Sods

Sabians, Paistes, Zildjians, Zyns, UFIPs, MIJs etc

I had to clean my new "mancave" before doing more than a surface clean of the Supra. Tomorrow she'll go for a complete spa treatment along with the Swingstars and huge pile of stands (wow there's more n' I thought!) but I have a one-off gig tomorrow night that I must study for too. But first I'll wash myself after subjecting myself to all that vintage grime!

I have one. They're great! I would like to put some COB hoops for my Supra, but they don't come up too often on eBay.

I always wanted to find a Supraphonc with a date stamp of JAN 21 1965 but to no avail. Perhaps I was born on the weekend.

As many of you know, I am an avid collector of vintage Stars. Having said that, I must also say that my early seventies Supra is my most prized snare. It sounds great and looks great! It is also babied beyond what my normal OCD allows. This drum was a special gift to me by a very talented and wise gentleman whom I hold in great respect. If I were offered a fortune for my Supra, it would be turned down without blinking an eye!

Just a drummer who loves all things about vintage drums! Nothing more, nothing less.
