I'm going to sell my pre-serial Ludwig Downbeat in Black Galaxy.

I've had it for 27-28 years & used to play it a lot, but haven't much in the last 10 or so years.

My wife didn't like the idea when I mentioned it to her (she's always thought it was my prettiest set), but I said to her "I've made some great memories with it & I always enjoyed having a rare set, got lots of compliments over the years. It's time for a change though, let someone else enjoy it & make memories with it."

It's not without a little....heck, more than a little twinge of regret :( . But life is change & it's time for a change.

I have an idea what I want for it, but I'd like to get some opinions from you experts here Bowing

(I'll put it in the For Sale section with lots of pics & detailed descriptions in the next couple of days.).

Couple of things, it has both original BD hoops & I believe it lived here in the southwest most if it's life because rust is barely present.

tough post for me to write....*pours a shot of bourbon* :(

Hi, Fred: I wish you all the best with the sale of that great Ludwig drum set. Thank you very much for selling me my current vintage drum project--the Gretsch cocktail outfit. I would like everyone here to know that working a deal with Fred is a pleasure. Please consider Fred as one of the good guys among us.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

I regret selling a lot of my drums , and that being said there is always another just as sweet down the road. I have always like the way certain kits and pies have sounded and looked on the stage in your studio or at home, but the thing is we always put more of a sentimental attitude and not necessarily money( It does help to not get low balled on a prize kit )

With price points down I'd say in the 3800 to 4500 $ range on a good day good luck with that sale Gary

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
