Faking a Rogers tom! Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Loading...

Don't worry - everyone will know it's not real . . .

But I love this kit at Maxwells

Mainly because of the 10" converted tom. As far as I know, these drums (10" Rogers concert toms with re-rings) are more rare than WMP dyna's.

I've posted here before about this, but now that I have the kit more or less together, I want to make a 10" tom for my Fullertons, which are waiting on wrap. Keller are now making Rogers-like shells again. Has anyone heard these? I notice they only come in 10 x 8 and of course I want 10 x 7. Still "special orders are considered on request" so it might not be out of the picture.

I've sent them an email. I'd like to know which custom companies are using these shells and what they sound like . . . darn great, I'm guessing.

I converted a 10" concert tom to double headed. Not quite enough room for a double row of lugs, so I plugged the shell, moved the top row up 1/4" or so, and that allowed enough room for an aligned set of bottom lugs. Cut the bottom bearing edge on the rering and rewraped. Looked and sounded great.
