Ebay troubles Last viewed: 7 seconds ago

Thanks Blair

I agree with you regarding the price - that's why I sent an email stating I would pay him (stewie?) $190 for his drum.

Mistake or deliberate - I don't care at this time, but it's nice to know a little more about Slingerland snare drums. I would feel happy with $190....even though I do not want or need a Concert King. This would cut my losses and, acording to Mr. Harry Cangany the drum may be worth not more than $200.

If the seller doesn't want to give me a partial refund I will be returning the drum for a full refund as soon as it arrives. I put in a equest for eBay to call me and they did yesterday. I explained my situation to them (this is before I offered to pay $190 for the drum) and they said I could return the drum for a full refund when it arrives. So they're already up to speed on this file.

I am not saying I don't hold the seller for some responsibility here - everyone that is looking at this drum is telling me it certainly is NOT a Radio King as advertised. I'd be okay with paying $190. It is $190 (plus $15 shipping + a trip to the USA = $30 or so) that I should not be paying for this drum. Mistakes are made.................

From blairndrums

"Shell is in very good condition" ?I would rate the shell as Fair..maybe Fair +...wouldn't even say Good....I think Stewie is a member on here...he is on DFO or here or both...look him up under that name....Re it NOT being a RK...my understanding is it is only a true RK if it has it right on the top rim....is that right?I think the drum is from the late 40's..look at the screws holding the lugs on...those are old style...$375,without an arm,and in that condition is too much.....

Update:

I opened a case for this drum on eBay late last week and the seller responded today and offered to send me a Fedex return address label. I responded by telling him I will be sending the drum back this week and thanked him for his cooperation.

The drum was delivered on Friday it looks like - to my USA mail drop. It is a bit of a hassel for me because it's a four hour round trip by car to Oroville Wa. to send the drum back. But, it's a lot cheaper than keeping a drum I don't want.

LESSON LEARNED: Always check thoroughly on an item before pressing the BIN button or bidding. In this case I thought the drum to be a real Radio King snare drum by looking at the sellers auction ad. I only found it was not a RK snare drum after buying it and after checking with a number of experts on Silingerland Radio King drums.

I will be happy to get my money back. I'm sure if the seller advertises his "Concert king" snare drum properly he will be able to sell it to someone that's looking for a nice old drum like this. It is a nice old drum - it's just not a nice old Radio King drum.

It was a nice day - warm and sunny (warm as in 15 deg C here in the South Okanagan) BC Canada - for a trip to the USA to pick up my drum. I returned the drum - without opening the package - to the seller. I have a file opened on eBay and the seller agreed to accept the return. I will hope to have a full refund when he receives the drum. I insured it for the value I paid - $375usd - and paid extra to have a signature required at the other end.

I will be looking very carefully at auctions in the future...especially if I'm forking out $100's.

Fingers crossed for you that everything goes smoothly. Sounds like an honest seller. What a notion!

I've jumped through most of the hoops including making a 4+ hr. trip from my place in Canada to Oroville Wa. USA to pick the drum up and send it back from there. I've tried to contact the seller numerous times since my last contact from him March 3rd. At that time he offered to send me a return Fedex label so I could return the drum for a full refund. Also at that time he turned down my offer of $190 and a partial refund - stating "good luck finding one for $190."

The drum was picked up at the sellers end (and signed for - fully insured for the $375 I paid) yestereday. But when I did not hear from him today I esculated the complaint to the Custom Service folks at eBay. I'll let them handel it.

I was more than patient here. For some reason the seller just refused to communicate with me. The Fedex Return Shipping label never did arrive - so I ended up paying shipping both ways. I did tell eBay that I want to be refunded the shipping as well as the full amount I paid for the drum.

I will let you know the outcome.

You've definitely done your part! It's time for eBay to do theirs. Here's hoping it's resolved quickly. Don't forget to give him the eBay feedback he deserves.

He can't leave HONEST FB as a buyer can he?

Otherwise,he would scare sellers away from the site...and they can't have that now,can they?Soap Box:mad:

I just got an email from eBay - I've gotten a full refund, including the original shipping cost at the time I bought the drum.

I'm very happy with that. I'm not happy with the lack of communication from the seller though.

Two issues here:

1) for whatever reason(s) he chose not the answer my eBay messages or emails

2) he agreed to send me a Fedex Return Shipping Label....which he did not.

Maybe that shows somewhat of the character of the seller - I'll leave it at that.
