Early 50's Slingerland Krupa Project Last viewed: 13 minutes ago

I am thinking of selling my Early 50's Slingerland project. 24x14 bass, 13x9 tom, 16x16 tom. All with the wider re-enforcement rings and the larger casings on the side.

All the drums were stripped down and prepared for wrap. However, I am toying with the idea of doing something different.

The bass is in great condition, hoops need some paint in spots, and of course the wrap, but I have both internal mufflers, 2 L-rod cymbal arms, There was never a rail mount on it, the tom needs a stand or something else.

The 13 tom is beautiful. All original hardware, rims, muffler, is with it. Just needs some wrap.

The 16 floor tom had some issue. Some of the outer ply came off in some areas. Some skillful wood filler and wrap, and you wouldn't notice the problem. No extra holes in the drum. I'm not sure if the leg mounts are original, but if not, they fit in the original holes. Rims aren't original. But all casings are here and in great condition.

PLUS!

I bought a 2nd 16 floor to use with the kit. Shell and casings. It needs legs, and rims. I can include this in deal if someone wants it all. One end is a little 'egg-ed', but I currently am working that out...should be good by Monday! This would have to ship separate though.

Anyway, I am not looking for some big score with this. They are currently at a shop awaiting wrap...but I told them to hold off. If you are interested please email me: kschwallie@hotmail.com and I will try to send some pics.

Thanks!

Yeah, I didn't think they sold THAT low. Mine is earlier than the one you purchased. Beautiful kit though!

Unfortunately, Crash is right. Slingy's don't get the love they deserve in the marketplace. Please don't take my lack of response personally in any way. I'm a business person, not buying for my own collection. I have to be careful when I buy 'project kits.' If they're not priced right, I can lose my shirt. At $500. for a stripped and repaired "project kit" is just a bit high for me. However, for a guy looking to put together a killer sounding drum kit, those shells are the ticket! Well-worth spending time and $ to get them back to playing condition.

For practical reason's it just wasn't good for me. Do the math: $500 for the kit, another $250. to rewrap it, and then a round of new heads $150. plus any missing incidentals. (Did I mention shipping?) I'd be in for a grand on a vintage kit with lost commercial value because it's a rewrap. Realistically in for $1000 I'd never recoup my investment. So it was purely a business decision. No slam on your drums.

Again, for somebody who wants to build a quality kit for themselves, it's very well-worth considering. The shells are rare and it's going to make a killer sounding set of drums. DW is copying those shells in their new 'Classic' kits. The shells you have are the 'real' whammy-jammy.

Purdie, no harm no foul. I understand the business.

On a side note, the place that is/was wrapping them for me, said he had 3 sheets of BDP that he could wrap the drums in for $60 a sheet. $180 isn't bad, not my color of choice, but I know people on here really like that color!

I assume I can ship the drums just about anywhere for $70. Since I work in a music store, I should be able to get a drum box and stuffing fairly easy. Oh wait, 24" drum...hmm maybe I should start looking!

I have 24" bass drum heads for the kit, they are very much still new. For the 13 and 16, I have new heads available. If someone is interested, I could work something out with heads.

Anyway, thank again to everyone!

So, are saying you will sell the kit for $500 after it's been rewrapped and has heads on all the drums? If that's the case I might be interested.

No, not what I am saying entirely. I will have to check my stock, but, I am confident I may have some heads I COULD make a deal with. I mentioned the $180 wrap job, in case someone would be fine with that color, it would be a great opportunity to get it wrapped and get the kit...but I am not paying for it.

Thanks
