This has been semi-discussed but it's worth exploring further. Here's a Gretsch ad featuring Charlie Persip and his 18/14/12/5.5 "Natural Polish Maple" set. There are two pieces of hardware visible that help to date the set within a 3 year range. Take a good look and share your thoughts!

If that's a Lightening throwoff - it was introduced in 1967. The diamond legplates (screwheads showing) were from 58-62. The bass drum t-rods look to be 58 and later (as opposed to the fawcet-style t-rods). But, if that is a 67 throwoff....I'd say at least that year or later. I don't know when the off-set bd logo was introduced.

I believe thats the 4-point version of the 5380 "single point butt plate". If so, it was introduced in 1960.
